Okinawa Kobudo Program
Kobudo is an ancient Okinawan Martial Arts also known as weapons. The art of weaponry in Okinawa developed from farm tools. During the Satsuma clan occupation of the Ryukyu Islands, all weapons were banned. However, in order to preserve the art the Okinawan people hid the techniques in their folk dancing.

The Family Karate Center teaches the following weapons:
- Bo (6 foot staff)
- Sai
- Kama
- Tonfa
- Nunchauku
- Nitan Bo
- Oar
- Nunti Sai
- Tinbe
- Tekku

Shihan Williams trained in Matsumura Shorin Ryu Kobudo, Kenshinkan Kobudo and Shito Ryu Kuniba Ha Kobudo. Weapons training is incorporated into the Family Karate Center Black Belt Club and Masters Club programs.

- You will learn body shifting and better foot work.
- While learning how to use the stick or knife, you will learn about its weak points and how to stop them.
- Weapons practice teaches you how to move away from the line of attack; below, outside, or inside.
