About Havelock's Family Karate Center

Havelock's Family Karate Center is a recognized member of the National Association of Professional Martial Artists (NAPMA) and teaches with the emphasis on "Character Development", not just martial arts ability. The Instructors of the Family Karate Center have been successful in helping students of all ages and abilities to discover the benefits of martial arts training for themselves.

Their dedication to stay on the cutting edge of both personal growth and development of a martial arts curriculum for their students is evident in their philosophy of constant and never-ending self improvement. Their mentor is Shihan Frank Williams who retired from active teaching in 2004 but still volunteers several hours a week to mentor and coach senior students in an effort to impart his vast acquired knowledge to his successors.

The Family Karate Center was founded on the principles of teaching excellence, positive role models, and a rich tradition of Okinawan Karate.

Havelock's only full-time Martial Arts school with degreed professional staff all internationally certified to teach Shorin Ryu Karate.

Our full-time paid staff will provide you with the most complete and effective methods to reach your full potential. Family Karate Center is more than just martial arts and self defense. It is by far the most comprehensive and exciting martial arts program in our area.

At Family Karate Center, our NAPMA designed professionally structured courses go much further than just punching and kicking. As professional martial arts instructors we feel that it is our duty not only to help our students develop self defense skills, but also to provide a complete program of character development to enhance our students ability to excel in life. Our courses include life skills, SWAT (Special Winning Attitude Team), progressive phases of character development, lessons of the month, themes of the week, newsletters, an ambassador program, and special seminars and events.

Located next to the Quality Inn in Havelock oat 320 US Highway 70 West the facility features 3,000 total square feet with 1,500 square feet of matted training area as well as a separate After-school area and 4 bathrooms.

The Pro Shop and Front Office are conveniently located at the entrance to the Family Karate Center.

Parents may stay and watch their children train or drop them off and come back in an hour later to pick them up after they have completed their class.
